World Rangers Day: Lamdo Gashaka Hails Gumti National Park Management
The Royal father gave the commendation in Serti, Gashaka Local Government Area when the only national Park in Taraba State ( Gashaka Gumti National Park) celebrated the world Rangers Day.
In a goodwill message, Dr. Sambo eulogises the management of the National Park for innovations that have led to the harnessing of the potentials in the park.
"We have no doubt in our mind that some of the innovations have gone along way in harnessing the vast potentials in the Park for optimum realization of the objectives of setting it up," he said.
The traditional ruler however, called for the sustenance of the cordial relationship that exists between the Gashaka Gumti National Park and the host community.
"For quite sometime, the Park has strived to maintain cordial relationship with the host Communities by way of meeting its corporate social responsibility. We urge for the sustenance of this relationship in the interest of harmonious coexistence."
Speaking on the benefits of the National Park to the state, Dr. Sambo said" We are aware that some students from reputable universities within and outside the shores of Nigeria are always around the park to carry out research because of the availability of unique species of animals in the park. This has no doubt showcased Gashaka and Taraba State to the outside world .
" We use this opportunity to commend the favourable disposition of the Taraba State Government, under our dynamic Governor, Architect Darius Dickson Ishaku in the agricultural sector. The administration has created the enabling environment for the Gashaka Gumpti National Park to operate smoothly", he added.
The Lamdo Gashaka expressed happiness over the recent acquisition of a helicopter for the Gashaka Gumti National Park by a partnership between the National Park Service and Africa Nature Investors Foundation,a Conservation based NGO in Gashaka meant for protection operations, surveillance, and anti-poaching activities. He described it as a commendable initiative and assured that the traditional council would create awareness in the people on the activities of the Helicopter to avert panic in the locals.
He charged the management of the Gashaka Gumti National Park to reciprocate the kind gesture of the host community by safeguarding the park against all forms of threats to life of the citizens.
