YEDC To Distribute 5000 Free Meters To Jalingo Residents




The Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) says it would soon distribute 5000 meters to residents in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital under the National mass metering Programme.

 

The Jalingo Regional Manager of YEDC,  Mr. Godwin Ugbu, said the company on meters will be mounted on the pool except the MD2 meters noting that the meters will be distributed free of charge.

 

According to the Jalingo regional Business manager, Mr. Christopher Kwasi, when the meters are installed, billing circle would become more accurate as consumers will only account for the energy they consume and transformers will no longer be overloaded.

 

"We have also procured operational vehicles, transformers and other working tools to meet the needs on ground and satisfy our customers", he added.

 

Mr. Kwasi further said the procured meters that would be installed is smart and can be monitored from the YEDC office.

 

In a separate presentation on the brand of YEDC, the Customer Service Officer, CSO, Mr. Kente reiterated the company's commitment to addressing customers' needs promptly and building a good relationship with customers.

 

Mr. Kante further called on customers to report to the YEDC office any case of ill-treatment or harassment by staff of the company. He said," YEDC is a new brand and not 'NEPA' as many people used to Know. As such, we offer brand new services.

 

" We offer utility services and are available all the time to attend to our customers", he added.

 

However, the YEDC said some of the challenges the company encounter include infrastructural issues, unwillingness of some customers to pay their bills as at when due, and cases of vandalization of cables by unscrupulous elements.
