Fanya Fwachabe Withdraws From House of Reps Race, Drums Support For Sen. Bwacha

Dr. Fanya Danasabe Fwachabe of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has withdrawn from contesting to represent Donga, Takum, Ussa and Yangtu Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Fwachabe Support Group.

On why this decision was taken, the group said, "Following our wide consultation with family, party faithful, political associates and our supporters we have reached a conclusion to withhold from the race for now. This is considering the fact that, Dr. Fanya shares the same local government, tribe and religion with Senator Emmanuel Bwacha who is a frontline governorship candidate for our great party, the All-Progressives Congress (APC) and over 70 percent of our supporters believe in and are ready to support the candidacy of Senator Bwacha. It will amount to political insensitivity on our part and a conflict of interest for majority of our supporters should we proceed on the contrary.

"The unanimous decision is taken in the interest of unity, togetherness and political inclusiveness to consider the position of House of Representatives to come from any of Takum, Ussa and Yangtu".

The Fwachabe Support Group however, said it is yet to decide on which candidate to support to represent the Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives. "We are watching closely the candidates from these Local Government Areas and at the fullness of time, we shall communicate who we would collectively support".

Concerning the politics of Donga Local Government Area, the group said it is their hope that while Senator Bwacha remains the favourite governorship candidate for their supporters, they wish to call on all well meaning critical stakeholders of the All Progressive Congress (APC) to work towards producing the member State House of Assembly from within Donga town.

According to them, their decision on this is hinged on the fact that they can't afford to exclude the Local Government headquarters from elective positions in the politics of 2023 and that their party leader most distinguished Senator Emmanuel Bwacha is not coming from inside the LG headquarters.

The statement further reads," It is our believe that having

the state assembly candidate from within Donga town will improve our chances in

delivering more votes for the party been that we are opposition party in the state

and the governorship and state assembly election will hold the same day, March

11, 2023, as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)."

The Fwachabe Support Group appreciated the youths in the Constituency for the support thus far and appeals to them to accept the decision in good faith.

While calling on the Party in Donga Local Government Area to consolidate on their unity, togetherness and political inclusiveness, the group said they are not in any way been cowed but believe all politics is local and must be sensitive to the wishes of the people. " We believe power comes from God and at His time, He will make it happen", they added.
