Breaking: Hours After Taraba Truth and Facts Report, DSS Drills CAN, Muslim Council Leaders
Hours after Taraba Truth and Facts Newspaper reported call from residents to wade in religious leaders making unguarded utterances in the state, the Department of State Security have invited officials of Taraba State Christian Association of Nigeria CAN and the Muslim Council.
Top security sources said the officials have become regular visitors to the Jalingo office of the DSS and are being questioned over their recent statements.
" We are talking to them already and asking questions about their recent activities, the CAN Chairman was here, also the leaders of the Muslim Council, we are engaging them." A top security source said.
Another source said the Taraba State Police Command has also invited the clerics for a meeting.
Recall that many residents of Taraba state are calling for the arrest of leaders of the Christian Association of Nigeria CAN and the Muslim Council of Taraba State over statements capable of causing religious violence in the state.
Many residents who spoke to Taraba Truth and Facts Newspaper said several statements coming from both religious organizations are politically motivated to incite the public ahead of next general elections.
