Protest Against Sales of Employment Forms Holds Monday

·         Organizers list three points demand

 

Organizers  of Monday protest against the ongoing sale of forms to applicants who seek to work in the  Taraba state's civil service has released a three point demands for the Taraba State Government.

 

Coordinator of the protest and leader of the Taraba Concern Citizens Forum, Comrade Mansur Munkaila Jirgi said key youths stakeholders meet in Jalingo  to discuss the protest and itemized their demands.

 

"Many groups mostly youths are showing serious interest to be part of the protest, we welcomed everyone to join us ask Government not to extort applicants who are mostly jobless.

 

"Also some leaders of the labour unions have called to show us solidarity. Our sole aim is to ensure this Government makes application process free of charge. We discussed about it and we have three points.

 

"Our Demands are total cancelation of all fees for application forms and immediate refund of all payments to applicants who have applied and brought the forms.

 

" We are also demanding for a transparent and credible selection process of applicants that will ensure only qualified applicants gets the job. No slots must be shared to politicians, religious leaders or traditional rulers, we want the best among the applicants to the job because civil service is the engine of government, Taraba needs competent hands in it's civil service to bring out the potentials of the state

 

 "We are calling on the general public to join us to call the Government to do the right thing for it's citizens, we will be peaceful and orderly. Until our demands are met, we won't back track a bit," Jirgi told Taraba Truth and Facts Newspaper.

The group said the  protest  which will now hold on Monday 26 July 2021, was rescheduled following a meeting with the Taraba State Police Command- "they advised that security agencies in the state would be busy with ensuring adequate security is provided in the state ahead of Tuesday Sallah festival, thus it's not convenient for them to provide us the needed security to ensure a peaceful Protest.

"We are calling on the government to use this period to assent to our demands. We are also calling on all traditional rulers, religious leaders, lawmakers and Influential individuals to appeal to the government of the day to reconsider it's action, our demands are not out of place for the people to ask from a government that promised to rescue us."
