A senior special assistant to Taraba State Governor, Hajiya Ramatu Mafindi has called on all Tarabans to shun tribalism and religious sentiments and focus on choosing quality leaders for development of the state.

Speaking during an interview with our reporter in Jalingo, Hajiya Ramatu identified tribalism and religious sentiments has a major factor stopped us from progressing in Taraba in the past years.

She said the current administration of Governor Ishaku has done well for the people of the state in terms of promoting peaceful coexistence and infrastructural developments but some selfish politicians are bent on causing political confusion in the state.

Calling on all political leaders to unite to develop the state Hajiya Ramatu said the politics is about bringing progress to the people but lamented that tribalism and religious sentiments has clouded Taraba politics and the state is paying heavily for it.

"Today I have friends and those I respect ion APC, the likes of  elder brother Ahmed Yusuf, Chief DSK and many others, I respect them because in politics there is no permanent enemies or friend but interest which should be the people, our people should stop seeing a political party as a religion.

"I have been in politics since the days of PRP which has been up to 25 years. But I became strong in politics during UNCP days. During that time one of our brothers contested for Governorship in person of Muazu Jaji. He heard of me and my few experience then in politics and employed me to his state woman leader. That my rise in politics. Have worked with notable politicians likes of Umaru Sale, Jolly Nyame where I was acting woman leader, till his tenure was over and the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar among others but today I am a senior special assistant to the Governor, Arch Darius Dickson Ishaku and am working hard to contribute my quota to the development of the state, our people should stopping thinking joining a political party is a betrayal of their faith, politics does not have a religion or tribe," She said.

She added that with many legacy projects of the incumbent government residents of the state are happy with the rescue mission captain.

"Many people will appreciate Governor Ishaku more after his tenure, when people start using the fly over, the road in Yorro and Kurmi. The water projects among others, am proud of this government it shows why the people should choose a good and great leaders that will rule for the betterment of the poor masses."
