Igbo Businessman Chief Uche Obi is an household name in Taraba State, he was on Sunday 2nd of February kidnapped by yet unknown person in Jalingo the state capital.

The multi-billionaire and businessman  regained freedom after five days in custody of his abductors but not with serious allegation and counter allegations between his family and a former Acting Governor Sani Abubakar Danlandi, Sani Contact.

Before his eventually release on Thursday, wife of Taraba based Businessman Mrs Chika Obi had said some police officers from Abuja working for a former Acting Governor, Sani Abubakar Danlandi abducted her husband on Sunday 2nd of February at about 1am and his where about has remained unknown.

He was however released that same day.

Addressing a press conference in Jalingo on Friday, Uche Obi threw more light on how he was allegedly kidnapped and his business transaction with Sani Contact

"I want to say this clearly for everybody to know that no other person kidnapped me. It was Alhaji Sani Abubakar Danlandi, ' Sani Contact'  who used the police from Abuja to kidnap me. They were already following me and  I noticed them so I was suspicious when they called me that the were from the Force Headquarters and had obtained a warrant of arrest for me. I met with the state commissioner of police and he said he was not aware of such operation. He then directed me to meet with the deputy commissioner.

"So in the night of Saturday, around 11pm, my brother called to inform me that Sani called him that he was going to prove to me that he has more power than I am and that his men had already surrounded my house and business premises so I decided to leave the house on foot. It was when I stepped out the they picked me, blindfolded and took me away."

While narrating his ordeal, Obi said that after several days in custody at a resident he did not know and without eating any, his abductors finally dropped him off in Jalingo on Friday night after his abductors compelled him to sign a document while being blindfolded.
"For the five days they held me hostage, I was blindfolded. Even when they brought the documents for me to signed, they did not allow me to see it."
Obi said that his life and that of his family are under serious threat from Sani Abubakar Danlandi and called on the state and Federal Government to come to his aid

He said that the men had earlier called him that they were from the Force Headquarters, Abuja and had obtained a court order for his arrest and asked him to meet with them, but since he was already suspicious of movements around him, he approached the Commissioner of Police instead who denied knowledge of any persons from the Force Headquarters on any such mission in the state. '' If there was a court order why not come and arrest me in the open and tell my family where to find me? Why was the state command of the police not aware that these 'Abuja Police' were in town and properly documented. Infact when they took me i was not taken to any police station, i was blindfolded all through."
Efforts to get the former Acting Governor speaks on the matter proved abortive, a member of his media team said they will allow the police to investigate kidnapping allegations, because Uche Obi is contradicting himself.
"Let allow police do their job but I know it's a private business Transactions, don't mention my name because our principal has not give us the go ahead to respond to those lies"

However, the spokesman for the Taraba State police command, DSP David Misal, said he could not comment on the issue as at the time of this report since the supposed policemen allegedly came from the Force Headquarters, Abuja, which is outside the command.
