Workers to Gov. Ishaku: You must pay 30,000 minimum wage

The Taraba state Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Peter Gambo has tasked the Governor, Darius shaku on the need to implement the N30, 000 new minimum wage recently signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Comrade Gambo, who stated this while delivering his speech at the state delegates conference of the union, held at the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Conference Hall, Jalingo, said the new minimum wage should be implemented in accordance with that of the federal workers since both workers co-exist without any discrimination.
He added implementing  the new minimum wage will boost the state’s economy.
“With the recent signing into law of the N30, 000 new minimum wage by President Buhari, we call on the Taraba state government in her usual value for successful civil service in the state and in boosting the economic status of the state to implement it at par with federal workers since we go to the same market without any discrimination,” he said.
The state NLC boss also urged Ishaku to clear all outstanding salaries of local government workers and those of primary school teachers across the state. According to him, clearing all outstanding arrears, commencing the implementation of all promotions at all levels will ginger the workers and at the same time boost their morale for maximum productivity.
