Schools Teachers Union In Jalingo Get New Executives

 

The Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS), Jalingo Local Government Chapter, has elected new executives to steer the affairs of the union for the next four years.

 

The election was conducted at the ASUSS Secretariat in Jalingo, with delegates from secondary schools across the local government area participating in the exercise.

 

Elkana Matthew Bambur emerged as Chairman, while Idris Aminu and Dalhatu Umar Isa were elected Deputy Chairman and Vice Chairman respectively.

 

Daniel Bako was elected Secretary, with Freeman Godwin emerging as Assistant Secretary.

 

Other members of the new executive are Rahila Bukar, Treasurer; Hureira Shehu Mohammed, Financial Secretary; Gabriel Joshua Kuh, Public Relations Officer; and Rebecca Zakka Bako, Social Secretary.

 

Speaking after the election, the State Chairman of ASUSS, Comrade Tanko Danjuma, represented by his Deputy, Comrade Samuel Kanji, congratulated the new executives and urged them to prioritise the welfare of members.

 

He charged them to work collectively for the growth of the union and uphold the interests of secondary school teachers in the local government.

 

The Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Ande MammanUmaru, said the newly elected officials emerged after a screening process conducted in accordance with the union's electoral guidelines.

 

He described the process as transparent and in line with the established procedures of the association.

 

The oath of office was subsequently administered to the new executives by the Vice Chairman, Northern Zone, Comrade Robert Moses.
