A newly constructed drainage system in Nasarawo Magwoi Ward of Jalingo, Taraba State, has been partially washed away by flood, raising concerns over the quality and durability of the project.

The drainage, which residents said was completed less than two months ago, was executed under the current administration in the state. However, recent heavy rainfall exposed visible defects, with sections of the structure already damaged.

Residents of the area expressed disappointment over the development, noting that the drainage was expected to provide lasting relief from perennial flooding in the community.

They called on the contractor and relevant government authorities to urgently intervene, assess the damage and carry out necessary corrective work to ensure the project meets required standards.

According to community members, timely action is needed to prevent further deterioration and to safeguard public resources invested in the project.

Efforts to reach officials for comments were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
