Sani Danladi Political Organisation Backs Gov Kefas Re-election
Governor of Taraba State, Dr Agbu Kefas, on Monday secured a major political boost as the political organisation of former Deputy Governor, Senator Sani Abubakar Danladi, formally endorsed his re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement came during an interactive session held at Danladi’s residence in Jalingo, where the Governor met with members of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors and key stakeholders of the political group to harmonise strategies for the upcoming polls.
Addressing the gathering, Kefas appealed for unified support for his second-term ambition and that of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stressing the importance of continuity at both the state and national levels. He also threw his weight behind first-term legislators seeking re-election, arguing that stability in governance would consolidate ongoing development efforts.
The Governor noted that Danladi’s decision not to contest any elective position in 2027 had created room for cohesion within the All Progressives Congress (APC), urging party faithful to rally behind a common agenda.
In his remarks, Senator Danladi reaffirmed his withdrawal from the race, describing it as a deliberate sacrifice to strengthen unity within the APC in Taraba State. He called on his supporters to remain loyal to the party and work for the success of Kefas and Tinubu in the next election cycle.
Stakeholders at the meeting, including Ambassador Jerry Manwe and the state APC Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Bawa, commended the Governor’s leadership and pledged their support for his re-election.
In a vote of thanks, Manwe disclosed that the Sani Danladi Political Support Groups had unanimously endorsed both President Tinubu and Governor Kefas for a second term, citing the need for continuity and political stability.
The meeting also highlighted the long-standing political relationship between Kefas and Danladi, described by party leaders as one built on mutual trust beyond partisan interests.
The Governor was accompanied by top party officials, including the APC State Chairman, his Special Adviser on Political Matters, Prof. Josiah Sabo Kente, Director-General of Campaign, Hon. Danladi Baido Tijo, and Chief Press Secretary, Yusuf Sanda.
Prominent members of the Danladi political structure in attendance included Rt. Hon. Joseph Albasu Kunini, Hon. Stephen Othaniel, Hon. Tanko Bobbo Andamin, Dr Danladi Balutu, and Amb. Iliyasu Kirim, among others.
Kefas is expected to continue consultations with other political blocs as part of efforts to build consensus and ensure a rancour-free electoral process in 2027.
