Women Project, NIMC Partner to Enroll 34,600 Women in NIN Registration Drive

 

The Nigeria for Women Programme Scale-Up Project (NFWP-SU), through the Taraba State Project Coordinating Unit (SPCU), has partnered with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) Taraba State Office to enroll 34,600 women without National Identification Numbers (NIN) across the state.

 

The beneficiaries are members of Women Affinity Groups under the programme who previously lacked access to formal identification.

 

The enrollment exercise has already commenced in the implementing local government areas of Wukari, Sardauna, and Karim-Lamido.

 

This was disclosed in a statement signed by Mr. Jonathan Ayuba Tikon, Behavioural Change Communication Advisor of the programme in Taraba State. He noted that the exercise is entirely free, adding that necessary arrangements have been put in place to ensure a smooth rollout.

 

According to Tikon, the initiative is designed to promote financial inclusion among women, particularly those in rural communities. He explained that the registration will pave the way for opening individual bank accounts for beneficiaries who previously operated outside the formal financial system.

 

He added that the programme remains committed to strengthening Women Affinity Groups and other platforms that drive economic empowerment, with a focus on expanding opportunities for unbanked women across the state.
