Muri Peace Group Denies Endorsing Sale Mamman’s Political Ambition

 

The Muri Peace Summit Committee has denied reports circulating on social media suggesting that it visited former Minister of Power, Engr. Sale Mamman, in support of his political ambition.

 

In a statement the committee said its attention was drawn to a publication on platforms associated with the former minister, which alleged that members of the Muri Peace Summit Committee paid him a visit to endorse or support his political intentions.

 

The committee described the claim as false, misleading and entirely without basis, stressing that it has no involvement in partisan politics.

 

"We wish to state clearly, unequivocally and without reservation that the publication is entirely false and without a single iota of truth," the statement said, adding that the group dissociates itself from the narrative as presented to the public.

 

The committee explained that the individuals whose photographs were referenced in the publication are members of the Muri Patriotic Elders Forum (MUPEF), which it described as a non-political and non-partisan body committed to promoting peace, unity and mutual respect among the Muri people, regardless of religion, political affiliation or cultural background.

 

According to the statement, MUPEF constituted the Muri Peace Summit Committee solely to engage critical stakeholders of Muri extraction for the purpose of sensitisation and formal invitation to participate in the forthcoming Muri Peace Summit.

 

The committee disclosed that the summit, earlier scheduled for January, was shifted to March 21, 2026, after the Ramadan fasting period, to allow for broader participation and inclusiveness.

 

Reiterating its position, the group stated that it has not visited any individual, including the former minister, for political endorsement or support.

 

It stressed that all its engagements across Muri land are peace-driven and focused on mobilising citizens, traditional institutions, elders and other stakeholders toward peaceful coexistence and communal harmony.

 

The committee urged the public to disregard any publication linking it to partisan political activities or endorsements.
