SWAN Honours Wukari Veterans’ Moyoyo, Habu Fari for Contributions to Sports Development

Two prominent members of Wukari Veterans FC, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Moyoyo and Alhaji Fadallah Habu Fari, have been conferred with national honours by the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) in recognition of their outstanding contributions to sports development in Taraba State and Nigeria.

The awards were presented at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, during the 60th Diamond Jubilee Anniversary of SWAN.

Honoured for their commitment to youth empowerment and grassroots sports development, both Moyoyo and Habu Fari dedicated the awards to the people of Wukari Local Government Area and Taraba State.

Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Moyoyo, former Deputy President of SWAN and recently appointed member of the Taraba State Sports Commission by Governor Agbu Kefas, expressed his gratitude. He described the award as a motivation to do more for sports development in the state. Moyoyo, who also holds the traditional title of Dallatun Bantaje, pledged to strengthen collaboration with the State Sports Commission, SWAN, and the Taraba State Government to enhance sporting activities.

He praised SWAN's 60-year journey as a remarkable milestone that reflects the resilience, dedication, and consistency of generations of sports journalists in Nigeria.

SWAN President, Isaiah Benjamin, said the award celebrates the duo's unwavering efforts in grassroots sports and youth development, especially in Taraba State. He added that SWAN will continue to recognize individuals who make meaningful contributions to Nigeria's sporting landscape.

Also speaking after receiving his award, Alhaji Fadallah Habu Fari, a senior customs officer and the Matawallen Wukari, thanked SWAN for the honour. He reaffirmed his commitment to discovering young talents and mentoring future athletes. He revealed that through his grassroots sports initiatives in Southern Taraba, three promising athletes have already been discovered and are currently undergoing trials abroad.

Both awardees commended the Taraba State Government for prioritizing sports development and urged well-meaning individuals to support Governor Agbu Kefas's vision of elevating the state's sporting potential and empowering youths through sports.
