As Taraba State prepares for the November 2025 local government council elections, the KefasLegacy Centre has called on citizens to register for their voter's cards and turn out in large numbers to elect credible leaders of their choice.

 

Speaking at a press briefing in Jalingo, the Executive Director of the centre, Hon. Hamman Mohammed, said the state has enjoyed uninterrupted conduct of council elections since Governor Agbu Kefas assumed office.

 

He explained that the centre, a civil society organization set up to highlight the achievements of the Kefas administration, mobilize support for government policies, and draw attention to citizens' needs, has documented key gains made by the current government. These include improved security, the free education policy which has drastically reduced the number of out-of-school children, and ongoing infrastructural development across the state.

 

In a related development, the centre issued a seven-day ultimatum to activist Omoyele Sowore, demanding that he withdraw his recent statement against Governor Kefas or face legal action.

 

Also speaking at the briefing, the State Coordinator of the centre, Yahya Tanko Donga, and the State Women Leader, Dorothy Auta, reiterated the impact of the governor's policies. They urged Tarabans not only to participate in the forthcoming council polls but also to prepare ahead of the 2027 general election by registering to vote.

 

The centre further disclosed that it has directed its members to embark on voter mobilization and sensitization across all 16 Local Government Areas of the state in the buildup to the elections.
