Karim II Lawmaker Anas DidangoMoves To End Herders/Farmers Clashes In Darofai
The Member representing Karim Lamido II Constituency at the Taraba State House of Assembly, Hon. Anas Shu'aibu Didango, has expressed sadness over the recent hostilities between herders and farmers in the Darofai ward of Karim Lamido Local Government Area.
Didango made his feelings known during a meeting he summoned with the Chairman of Karim Lamido Local Government Council, Bitrus Ilu Danjos, security chiefs in the area, Village Heads, Ardos, and youths, among others.
The meeting aimed to find a lasting solution to the crisis between herders and farmers not only in his constituency but the entire LGA.
Both the farmers and the herders were counting their losses after the recent hostility in Budu Lara, Banyam in the Darofai ward.
According to Didango, the meeting was also aimed at identifying with the people and suing for peace to forestall any further breakdown of law and order as the area is passing through a series of security threats consistently.
The lawmaker charged the warring parties to co-exist peacefully with one another, urging them to shield their swords for the sake of peace.
Hon. Anas Shu'aibu Didango stressed the importance of dialogue and understanding and urged both the herders and farmers in the area to commit to the path of peace to achieve meaningful development.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Karim Lamido Local Government Council, Hon. Bitrus Ilu Danjos who is also the Chief Security Officer of the LG, and Heads of Security Agencies in the LG lamented the reoccurring crisis befalling the area monthly.
They charged the people of the area to be promoters of peace for the sake of harmonious living, adding that peace is a nonnegotiable factor in every community.
Additionally, the Chairman called on various ethnic groups to take part in sustaining peace, describing it as the cornerstone of meaningful development in any society.
Some of the village heads who spoke during the meeting appreciated the efforts of Hon. Anas Shuaibu Didango to restore peace in the area.
However, Hon. Anas Shuaibu Didango and his entourage were also at Bambur General Hospital in Karim Lamido LGA to ascertain the number of casualties recorded as a result of the clashes.
Furthermore, the lawmaker and his entourage visited the Bambur community to condole with the bereaved families.
