6 Brigade Commander Visits Yorro, Pledges To Make Mountainous Communities Safe

 

 

The Commanding Officer of the 6 Brigade, Nigeria Army, Brigadier General K.C. Uwa, has reiterated his commitment to strengthening security efforts in Yorro and neighboring communities.

 

Speaking during a familiarization visit to the Executive Chairperson of Yorro Local Government Area (LGA), Hon. Mrs. Martina Anthony, Brig. Uwa pledged to ensure a safer and more peaceful environment for all residents, particularly those in the mountainous regions plagued by criminal activities.

 

The visit was part of ongoing efforts to enhance security and intelligence gathering in the region. Brig. Uwa was warmly received by Hon. Martina Anthony, alongside the Majority Leader and Councillor for Kassa 'B' Ward, Hon. Usman Faruk, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Yorro, the LGSC in charge of the Department of State Security (DSS), and other local officials, including Supervisory Councillors and Special Advisers.

 

Brig. Uwa explained that his presence in Yorro was aimed at reinforcing the Nigeria Army's ongoing efforts to combat insecurity in the region, particularly the growing threats of banditry, kidnapping, and other criminal activities in the mountainous areas. He specifically highlighted areas such as Manzalla in Pupule and Yorrobang in Kassa 'B' Ward, which have become hotspots for criminal activity.

 

"We are focused on securing the mountainous areas that have become hotspots for criminal activities," Brig. Uwa stated. "Our personnel are well-equipped and ready to tackle these issues head-on, ensuring that we protect the community from the menace of kidnapping and other crimes."

 

In his remarks, Brig. Uwa assured the Chairperson that the 6 Brigade would continue to prioritize the safety of farmers and their agricultural produce, which have increasingly become targets for criminals. He urged local authorities and community leaders to strengthen their intelligence-gathering efforts and enhance collaboration to effectively combat criminality in the region.

 

Hon. Martina Anthony, the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of Yorro LGA, expressed her appreciation for the visit, commending Brig. Uwa and his team for their dedication to restoring peace and security in the area. She reiterated that the safety of citizens was her administration's top priority, and she emphasized the importance of the Nigerian Army's support in addressing the growing threats of banditry and kidnapping.

 

"I deeply appreciate the support of the Nigerian Army in assisting our community to combat these security challenges," Hon. Anthony said. "The presence of the Army is vital to securing our environment and restoring peace. We are also grateful for the continuous support of Governor Agbu Kefas, whose efforts to bolster security operations across Taraba State have been invaluable."

 

During the meeting, the Chairperson also appealed to Brig. Uwa for the provision of additional operational vehicles to improve security in remote areas. In response, Brig. Uwa assured her that one additional operational vehicle would be provided to support security operations in Yorro LGA, as part of the Nigeria Army's commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the entire community.

 

The meeting concluded with both Brigadier General K.C. Uwa and Hon. Martina Anthony expressing their resolve to continue working together in the fight against insecurity, with the shared goal of making Yorro and its surrounding communities safer for all.
