Abandoned Children's Parliament Bounce Back In Taraba, Elect Queen Gbashi As Speaker


The Taraba State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development, Mrs Mary Sinjen, has rejuvenated the Children's Parliament with Miss Queen Gbashi from Donga local government area elected as the Speaker of the Parliament in Taraba State.

Singen said  the Taraba State Government, under the directive of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development successfully rejuvenated the long-overlooked Children's Parliament to  shaping a brighter future for children in the state.

During her inspiring speech, Mrs. Mary Sinjen expressed heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Agbu Kefas, Governor of Taraba State, for entrusting her with the esteemed responsibility of bringing the initiative back to life.

She praised the Governor for his transformative initiatives for children, including providing free education for primary and post-primary schools and a 50% reduction in tuition fees for tertiary institutions, which are vital steps in nurturing future leaders.

Mrs. Sinjen also commended the Governor for the remarkable advancements achieved in the state during his first year in office. She encouraged the newly elected cabinet members to embody the spirit of excellence and serve as exemplary representatives of their beloved state.

Miss Queen Gbashi from Donga LGA as the Speaker of the Children's Parliament in Taraba State in her acceptance speech pledged her unwavering dedication to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for all children.

The crowning moment came when the successful cabinet members were administered the oath of office and presented with certificates of return, officially recognizing them as duly elected members of the Taraba State Children's Parliament.

The election process, supervised by Mr. Emmanuel from the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development in Abuja, was conducted in strict accordance with the Nigerian Children's Parliament constitution.
