Day Boss Mustapha Bags Honourary Law Degree At Federal University Wukari

It is yet another enviable milestone for Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, 2017–2023, as he was awarded the honourary doctorate degree in law of the Federal University, Wukari, Taraba State, at the 6th and 7th combined convocation ceremony of the University.

The award was a unanimous decision of both the Senate and the Federal Ministry of Education (standing in for the council of Federal University Wukari). 

"By the authority vested in me as the Chancellor and in accordance with the provisions of the University Statutes, I hereby confer on you the degree of Doctor of Laws (Honoris Causa) of the Federal University Wukari, with the rights and privileges attached thereto" the Chancellor affirmed.

Boss Mustapha was honoured alongside His Majesty, Manu Ishaku Adda Ali Matakhitswen, the Aku Uka and Chairman of Taraba State Traditional Rulers Council, and Hon. Chief Obadiah Ando, former Minister of Water Resources. 

The event was attended by notable Nigerians: The Visitor to the University, His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria, who was ably represented by Prof. Muhammad Inuwa Jaafaru, DVC Administration, Modibbo Adama University, Yola, the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Lt. Col. (Dr.) Agbu Kefas (Rtd), the Deputy Governor of Taraba State, H.E., Kirim Idris Iliyasu, Sen. David Jimkuta, senator representing Taraba South Senatorial District at the Senate, Hon. Prince, (Engr.) Sadiq Abbas Tafida, representing the Jalingo/Yorro/Zing Federal Constituency of Taraba State, Mu'azu Jaji Sambo, CON, immediate past Minister of Transportation, Emeka Nwajiuba, immediate past Minister of State, Education, Speaker, Taraba State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. John Bonzena, Speaker, Adamawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Barthiya Wesley, the Chancellor, His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr.) Adamu Baba Yunusa, the Ona of Abaji and Chairman of the FCT Council of Chiefs, Members of the Taraba State Traditional Council, members of the Taraba State cabinet, the Vice Chancellor and Senate of the University, critical stakeholders of Wukari land, Spiritual leaders, retired federal executives, among others.

Expressing his appreciation to the university on behalf of himself and other awardees, he thanked the senate and the management of the university for the award, " I am highly honoured and humbled to speak on behalf of the honourary awardees, and we sincerely thank the senate and the management of the Federal University Wukari for approving the award and to also thank Professor Tahir Mamman, SAN, the Honourable Minister, Education for endorsing their recommendation in the absence of a governing board. I am honestly excited that I am being honoured today along with two great Nigerians. 

"We are all conscious of the fact that this award bestows on us more responsibilities and privileges for the growth of the Federal University Wukari. The awardees are great lovers of education and have been supporting such a cause over time. We promise to continue in this direction and ensure that the university wukari is reckoned with nationally and internationally", he said.

Furthermore, he congratulated the graduates and enjoined them to deploy the knowledge gained during their academic pursuits to nation-building. "I also want to congratulate the graduands and enjoin you that this is just the beginning of deploying the theoretical and practical knowledge gained in the course of your education to help the nation solve some of her challenges, while at the same time having the satisfaction that you are living a meaningful life. You need to assure your parents that their sacrifices are not in vain. The world is now your playground and stage, go and conquer it"

He thanked sincerely the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Jude Samanni Rabo, and the illustrious son of wukari, David Sabo Kente, the Atavon Ekpan Nyifon of the Jukun people of Wukari, Kwararafa Kingdom, for the warm reception given him and his team, and thanked the Executive Governor of Taraba state, for the visionary projects across the state.
