Alhaji Murtala Ibrahim has returned about three million naira he found at an accident scene at Nahuta village along Bali-Jalingo road to the owner.

On Saturday, 20th January 2024 while traveling with his family to Jalingo from Bali local government area of Taraba state, Alhaji Murtala Ibrahim stumbled on an accident scene, he quickly dropped his family members and other passengers traveling with him, rescued the accident victims, found over three million naira at the scene and took it to Maihula police station for the police to identify the owner and do the needful.

Narrating his story, Alhaji Murtala Ibrahim, said himself and his family members were traveling to Jalingo from Bali and along the way, the vehicle that was closely following his car had an accident at Nahuta village.

He said he immediately disembarked the occupants of his car and carried all the accident victims to the hospital.
He added that while rescuing the victims, he found a bag containing huge sums of money, which he later handed over to the police for further investigations to identify the real owner of the money but he was asked by the police to keep the money in his custody until the owner is identified.

Alhaji Murtala said though he does not know the owner of the money, he was not carried away by the lust for money despite the challenges people are currently passing through.

He said he was controlled by the fear of God not to take what does not belong to him just as he would not like to see what belongs to him being taken away by anyone.

Alhaji Murtala who is the Makaman Jibu Chiefdom, said even when the owner of the money offered him money in appreciation, he turned it down because of the condition he found the accident victims.

Handing over the money to the owner at his palace in Bali, the Kuru Jibu of Jibu Chiefdom, Alhaji Abubakar Adams Mahmoud, thanked Alhaji Murtala Ibrahim for being a good ambassador of the Jibu Chiefdom, describing him as one in a million, calling on his people to emulate the exemplary character of Alhaji Murtala Ibrahim whom he said has made them proud .

Responding, Alhaji Sale Ibrahim, the owner of the money said he could not believe that there are still honest and sincere people like Alhaji Murtala Ibrahim especially with the current greed for money by most Nigerians.

He explained that he was traveling from Jalingo to Garbabi Market in Bali local government area when the vehicle they were travelling in, had an accident and that was all he could remember.

According to him, it was after he was revived at the hospital that he realized that they had an accident.

He said he was later told that his missing money was found by Alhaji Murtala Ibrahim who rescued them and brought them to the hospital.
Also speaking, the district head of Wurbo 1 in Jibu Chiefdom, Alhaji Shaibu Abdullahi Wurbo said the action of Alhaji Murtala Ibrahim in returning the money as well as conveying the accident victims to the hospital can only be rewarded by God.

He said the action clearly demonstrated that there are still God fearing people, appreciating the good gesture of the Makaman Jibu Chiefdom.
