One Killed, Palace, Houses Razed As Karim Boils Over Coronation Of New Chief

Hoodlums numbering over hundred have invaded some villages of Karim-Lamido Local Government Area setting houses including a palace of the newly coronated 2nd class chief on fire.

The suspected hoodlums who are believed to be against the recent coronation of the chief of Wurkun HRH Alh Yakubu Abubakar Haruna kirim, by the governor of Taraba state Architect Darius Dickson Ishaku, attacked Balasa, Gamji, Bete, and other places burning down houses.

Sources in Karim-Lamido confirmed that the hoodlums are advancing towards the main Karim town as of Friday Night in a violent protest against the sitting of the new Chief of Wurkum Palace in Karim town.

Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku had on Thursday issued staffs of office to some traditional rulers including the chief of Wurkun, which is now in dispute.

"The traditional ruler who ascende from his father's throne that passed on last year is called Garkuwan karim,  He is a wurkun man from wurkun piya village called kirim. The man is a wurkun.

He lives in Karim with his children, his palace and he is called Garkuwan karim.

Karimjo people who are the citizen of Karim town are complaining that this man should be called Garkuwan wurkun not Garkuwan karim, because they karimjo own karim town and they have their own Traditional rulers, let the Garkuwa go and set up his palace in Wurkun town not in their town and he is not Garkuwan karim but should be call Garkuwan wurkun.

"That is what they are complaining about. The Garkuwa is the head of all traditional rulers of over 12 tribes in karim lamido local government.

According to karimjo people they are not against his position as the senior of others but he should leave their town and established his palace among wurkuns not among them."
