Despite 98% Disbursement, Bwacha Dragged Over Uncompleted 40M Campus Radio Project In Wukari


The Taraba State has expressed sadness at the way and manner some national assembly members from the state have been fraudulently laying claims to federal government projects in the state, asking Senator representing Taraba South in the National Assembly, Emmanuel Bwacha to explain the non-execution of a campus radio station project he attracted to Federal University Wukari in 2020.


Addressing a press conference in Jalingo, Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Hon. Solomon  Elisha said in the 2020 Federal Government budget, a budget line item with the title "Radio Station for the University, Taraba South Senatorial District, Taraba State with the unique excel code (2020ZIPO257) was captured under the Federal Ministry of Education and Federal University of Wukari as the executing agency for the sum N40,000,000 with an unspecified status, is yet to be seen completed. Since the 2020 Federal Government constituency projects budget performance was pegged at about 98% in terms of disbursement to MDA.

Elisha also alleged that over 10 billion naira meant for constituency projects specifically in Southern Taraba has been diverted to personal properties or executed poorly and other have been given impress to look like a personal project.

He said many projects claimed to be implemented in the State by some Federal Agencies are monumental frauds.

Elisha observed that some projects which were instituted by the Federal Government are yet to be completed while others are "poorly executed, unspecified, abandoned or even non-existent." One of which is the "Radio Station for the Federal University Wukari in, Taraba South Senatorial District, which has the Federal University of Wukari as the executing agency.

  Other projects he listed are: Supply of sewing machines at Taraba Central Senatorial District for employment of women and youths pegged at N125,000,000 naira.

 Grants to assist youths/widows in Entrepreneurship to cushion the effect of Covid 19 in Wukari/Ibi Federal Constituency, Taraba State pegged at N50,000,000 naira.

 Construction of community town hall in Mararaba-Donga, Donga LGA Taraba South Senatorial District, Taraba State pegged at N100,000,000 naira and other projects, this said project Taraba News Investigation showed that it was Commissioned and named after Senator Bwacha Mother, making it look like his personal project.

 He urge the citizen to be mindful of people like this having ambitious to rule the state, insisting that they have fail in being a good Representative of the people.

 He expressed sadness that lawmakers, instead of attracting projects to their constituencies are busy claiming to have executed federal government projects.

He said, " it's been observed that some executing agencies have been used over the years for the execution and implementation of federal government constituency projects in Taraba State for certain senatorial districts and federal constituencies, notwithstanding their previous budget performance as it was poorly executed, unspecified, abandoned or even nonexistent."

Citing the numerous federal government projects for Taraba state that were captured in the 2020 federal government budget but were claimed by the national assembly members from the state as personal projects, he said the need for relevant authorities to call such representatives to order has become necessary.

The state government, he said, "has observed that certain zonal intervention projects and consolidated capital projects are seen by Tarabans as individual projects rather than federal government constituency projects that they truly are. "

Ishaku said, "the conceptualization of government project interventions as individual efforts has become worrisome to the state government".

"The players are our supposed representatives who have cornered our sovereign wealth to become theirs."

"The big question presently agitating the minds of the people is that the little space given them at the constituency level has been mortgaged."

"How can we now or in the future aggregate our collective mandate for such representatives to lead us or provide leadership at the state level".
