Elsudi Heads To Appeal As Court Stops Him From Participating In APC National Convention, Other Activities

Taraba State chapter of All Progressive Congress (APC) has appealed the ruling of a Federal High Court sitting in Jalingo that stopped Barrister Ibrahim Tukur Elsudi's exco from participating in APC National Convention and other activities of the party.

the Federal High Court in Jalingo granted a motion ex parte filed by Barrister Chia restraining El Sudi and his excos from parading themselves as executives of APC in Taraba State.

Taraba State APC Publicity Secretary , Aaron Artimas described the ruling as a "desperate" verdict, explaining that the ruling of the lower court wasn't the last as there are many windows to appeal and they already appealed the case at an appellate court.

"It is a lower court. We have the right to appeal the case to a higher court and even the Apex Court of the land, the Supreme Court.

"We rejected the ruling, We didn't accept it as the case is a party affair. It is an internal issue of the party. There are more than ten judgements from different courts in the country including the apex court that dismissed such cases saying it wasn't the jurisdiction of courts to entertain them as it was an internal matter of the party.

"There was a judgement of the Supreme Court indicating that party members are allowed to run the affairs of the party based on the provisions of the constitution of the party. We didn't violate any law of the party. We were voted under the supervision of a committee set up by the National Secretariat of the party." Artimas explained.

He said the recent ruling was the second in less than three weeks. The first was issued by the same Federal High Court sitting in Jalingo nullifying the State Congress of APC which produced El-Sudi's-led executive.

The PRO accused that there was desperation in the rulings which portrayed the judge as a biased person who took the case as a personal issue stressing that the rulings were leaked to the public even before the pronouncements in the courtroom.

He therefore confirmed that the party has appealed both the first and second rulings. "We appealed against the rulings and we are sure that the court will give its verdict before the National Congress of our great party" He said.

The PRO however, urged party loyalists and supporters to remain calm as stakeholders of the party in the state were in support of El-Sudi's led exco, adding that those wishing to destabilize the party will not succeed.
