2023: Southern Taraba PDP Members Insist On Power Rotation

The Concerned Southern Taraba PDP Members have called on Governor Darius Ishaku, State Executive of the party led by Col. Agbu Kefas(rtd), as well as all critical stakeholders in the party, to support the zoning arrangement to northern part of the in 2023.

The group led by Hon. Joseph Manga and Hon Daniel Likam during a press conference held at the NUJ press center in Jalingo, lend their voice on calls for power rotation in the state and advocated for the power to be shifted to the Northern Senatorial Zone.

"In our capacity as the Concerned Southern Taraba PDP Members, we hereby want to uphold to the sanctity of equity and fair distribution of power amongst the three senatorial zones in the state." Said Hon. Manga.

According to him, they have undoubtedly subscribed to the theory of power rotation since 1999, where previous antecedents arising from the party's calculations always end up in the interest of power shift, which is purposely to ensure that every zone is given a sense of belonging.

Believing that applying a power rotation strategy has indeed solved issues of marginalization, Hon. Joseph Manga said even the grassroots micro-zoning of political positions has ushered in equal representation through an acceptable power-sharing formula that has nipped issues of tribal or religious suspicion in the bud.

" To further convince you that God is God of equity and supports justice and fair play, any time when we try to use human logic to thwart or go against the power shift formula, God in His infinite power always intervene and returned power to the appropriate zone through unforeseen circumstances–

" And this development of power rotation has no doubt yielded huge electoral returns for the PDP with serial victories in the polls across the state during general elections since the advent of democracy in 1999," Manga noted.

Hon. Joseph Manga, however, reminded the PDP stakeholders not to hurriedly forget the massive support the Northern zone gave to the Southern zone through Governor Darius Ishaku in 2015 and 2019 against their daughter and son, late Sen. Aisha Alhassan, and the former Governor, Sen. Sani Danladi, to ensure that justice and fair play was enthroned in their democratic arrangements.

"We are also appealing to all southern Taraba politicians, especially those with the gubernatorial ambition to step down their inordinate quest that will amount to endangering our zone and next generation. We are saying NO to some of our leaders who now want to remove the ladder that they have used to climb up through their selfish quest to rob the chances of the upcoming younger generation in taking their places in politics." Hon. Manga added.
