2023: Northern Taraba Youths Urge Joel Ikenya To Contest Governor, Says Zoning Is ‘Outdated’

 

The Northern Youth Alliance for Good Governance have urged  Senator Joel Danlami Ikenya to contest for Governorship position in Taraba state in the next general election.

 

Speaking to newsmen in Jalingo during a press conference, Chairman Northern Youth Alliance for Good Governance  Hon Iliya Boniface said  agitation for power shift to the northern zone or maintaining of the zoning arrangement by some Northern political elites is outdated. "unconstitutional and has outlived its usefulness in our political structure as all the three zones have tested office of Governor. "

 

The youths who converged  to  endorse  Senator Joel Danlami Ikenya were drawn from Jalingo,Yorro,Ardokola,Zing and Lau local government Areas constituting the Northern senatorial zone said  they firmly   resolved that Senator Joel Danlami Ikenya is not only the right man but the most qualified for the job at hand .

 

"We therefore, with a loud voice call on him to vie for the exalted governorship position under the platform of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.

 

"It is time for us a people to elect an astute politician with the sagacity and capacity to unite all contending interests and at the same time with the ability to harness the abundant human and natural resources for the rapid and overall development of our dear State," he said

 

Boniface added that Senator Joel Danlami Ikenya being a grassroot politician stand a better chance of winning the  Governorship election for the PDP as he knows the needs and wants of Tarabans.

 

 On his part, the Organizing Secretary Northern Youth Alliance for Good Governance, Pele Geoffrey said the clarion call on Senator Joel Danlami Ikenya was a uniform decision by youths drawn from Northern zone of the state.

 

"It is time for us a people to elect an astute politician with the sagacity and capacity to unite all contending interests and at the same time with the ability to harness the abundant human and natural resources for the rapid and overall development of our dear State.

 

"Senator Joel Danlami Ikenya is a man of peace, integrity and a man of his words whose political prowess and antecedents spanned over three decades in the history of our democracy and his achievements are legendary and visible in all three senatorial zones of the state.

 

"The man, Sen Ikenya is a God-fearing personality whose main purpose in politics is service to humanity and this has prompted him to oblige his people from elective political position by rising steadily through ranks of being a Honourable Member, Taraba State House of Assembly, Member House of Representatives, distinguished Senator and a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. 

Senator Ikenya's vast wealth of experience includes executive and legislative duties which put him far ahead of other contenders. This will give him the added advantage to navigate seamlessly the delicate relationship between the Executive, Legislative and Judicial arms of government. A political juggernaut, bulldozer and heavyweight, Senator Ikenya has been tried, tested and trusted to deliver when it matters most."
