New Tep Kwar Link Bridge Named After Paramount Chief of Mambilla


A Community bridge in Tep Kwar of Sardauna Local Government Area of Taraba state commissioned over the weekend has been named after the Paramount Ruler of Mambilla, Dr Shehu Audu Baju II.

 

 The mini bridge linking Tep Kwar Community under Ndum-yaji Ward of Nguroje constituency to other neighboring villages like, Tep Bani, Tep Roh, Tep Mallam, And Tep Malam and neighboring villages of Nyang Ntong, and Ntim in Cameroon Republic has been a dead trap for years particularly during raining season.

 

 

The inaccessibility of road has been a major setback for the community, as it serves as a commercial center in some years ago and situated on the same axis with Barup where the Federal Government Mambilla Hydro Electric Power Project(MHEPP) is located.

 

The bridge project was initiated and constructed by  a social activist and  Chief Protocol Officer to Dr Shehu Audu Baju II, Comrade Yushau Dahiru Jika Tep, Sarkin Fadan Mambilla.

 

Speaking at the commissioning occasion , the Chief of Mambilla who was represented by Waziri Kabri, Hon Baban Gida Umar, Dan Masanin Mambilla urged community leaders in the area to ensure the sustainability of the bridge provided to the community.

He however commended his Chief Protocol Officer for the kind gesture of giving back to his community in his little way, describing him as a philanthropist with a community development mindset.

 

Also speaking at the occasion , the chairman Sardauna Local Government Area, Pharm. Oliver  Wubon represented by Leader of the Legislative Council, Hon Barkindo Ibrahim Tanvia urged the communities in the area to ensure that peace is maintained in their respective domain and to be security conscious as Tep Kwar shares boundaries with the southern part of Cameroon that was loomed by crisis.

 

Urging them to make good use of the bridge, Wubon commended the good effort of the project initiator for putting the needs of his people first.

He however urged residents of the Community to report the presence of individuals that poses treat to its territorial integrity.

 

The Commanding Officer Nigerian Airforce 23 Quick Response Unit Gembu, B.S Vibelko who was by represented by Fg Offr, A.S Alkan said  the bridge will make to access to remote areas in the community easier, stressed that  security operatives are on the Mambilla to maintain a peaceful co-existence among the people,

 

A member of Sardauna Traditional Council, Wakilin Kaka Mambilla Alhaji Abubakar Hammaadama described the good effort  of Comrade Yushau Dahiru Jika Tep  as sustaining the legacies of his late father Alhaji Hammaadama Kaka to the Tep community which he said started in the early 60s, calling on Comrade Yushau to continue on his good initiatives for his community.

 

He also pleaded to government to intervene to providing social amenities and infrastructural facilities as dividends  of democracy in the area

 

Comrade Yushau Dahiru Jika Tep while speaking at the ceremony said he was motivated to embarked on the project to rescue his community who have always suffered  losses of  their loved ones and properties during heavy downpour across the river due to the lack of bridge.

 

He also assured that his next project  is to the construction of the next bridge linking the Tep community and Mbamnga, Mbar Ndumyaji, Sakaka And Mararaba Tep.
