Fresh Battle for Gov. Ishaku

●State Lawmakers Angry over Poor Governance, Delayed Allowance

Many members of Taraba State House of Assembly are not happy with the state Governor Darius Ishaku, Taraba Truth and Fact can authoritatively report.

The governor was said to have fell out of favor with the state lawmakers for deliberately delaying approval and payment of some legislative allowances to the lawmakers.

“Many members are not happy with Governor Ishaku, they are not happy with the manner the state is been run and the governor is not giving them a listening hear, infact he once told them he is the governor and he can’t be controlled by the state lawmakers. During a meeting the governor shouts down some members who tried to make some comment and walked out on them,” a credible source said.

Another problem the Assembly is having with the governor is funding, for whatever reason known to the governor he is deliberately not making money available to the lawmakers to carry out their functions, infact they are currently owed some allowance because the governor did not approve the payments, the lawmakers are planning with showdown for the governor if things does not change.''

The source said impeachment of the Alhaji Danlandi Gwampo as the state Deputy Speaker was to send a signal to that the Governor is no longer in control of the Assembly, ''the Assembly is not considering his impeachment.''

 “the man has a double face, when he is with the Governor, he will tell him that the Assembly is not with him, infact he’s always leaking information about the assembly to the governor.''

Another Source said Gwampo has been the ears of the governor in the Assembly, was accused of betraying the Assembly by giving classified and wrong information to the governor about legislative decisions.

“Gwampo is close to the governor and he always bad mouth members of the assembly before the governor which has been causing some confusion between the lawmakers and the executive, infact he once told the governor that the lawmakers were planning to impeach him which was not true, so the members had enough of him and decided to remove, although the governor is not happy with the decision”

Another source said the Governor who was very angry with the decision of the lawmakers to impeach Gwampo is also consulting on plans to impeach the speaker, however is camp is very few and ‘powerless’ in the assembly. 

''In days ahead, there will be issues between the State Assembly and the Executive arm because the governor is still very angry at the impeachment of Gwampo as Deputy Speaker and has lost control of the state assembly because the new deputy speaker and majority leader are not fans of the governor, infact they got the office to spite the governor.''
