Taraba Worst Governor in 28 years

  • 100 days: Gov. Ishaku has nothing to show for re-electing him

For his failure to deliver on most of his campaign promises and sustain the development of Taraba state in the last four years, respondents named Governor Dairus Ishaku has the worst governor produced in the last 28 years.
Also the governor is coming under heavy attack for his failure to roll out any achievement in the last hundred days after his re-election.
A respondent said the failure of governor Ishaku to celebrate the traditional 100 days in office showed the level of political and governance failure in the state, it simply means the governor has not done anything worth celebrating in the last 100 days.
“He is not the only  governor on second term, we saw activities of other governors in the last 100 days, take a look at Cross River and Akwa Ibom, they are PDP governors on another four years and they were able to showcase their achievements. Simply put it Governor Ishaku has nothing to show, he does not even feel accountable to the people who elected him.”
Speaking on the creation of the state 28 years ago, another respondent described Governor Ishaku as a tragedy to history of the state, saying no significant development can be attributed to his leadership in the last four years.
Tracing the developmental history of the state, the respondent a retired senior civil servant said: “development was gradually coming into light in 1999 when governor Jolly Nnyame was elected again he built the State Specialist Hospital, Stadium some few roads and the people felt his impact, infact under late Governor Danbaba Suntai Taraba state witness a large wave of infrastructural development, the state was moving at a progressive pace with a lot of visible projects being carried out and there was peace, investors were coming into the state, many good things in Taraba state can be linked to the late Danbaba. Also after the unfortunate plane crash, Acting Governor Garba Umar UTC did a lot to sustain the developmental progress of his boss. UTC added a lot ice on the cake for Tarabans, he paid backlog of pensions and gratuity and employed teachers and lawyers. Also UTC built and completed a lot roads, all these federal roads you are seeing are his projects. He completed hospitals and the state was moving forward. Even Abubakar Sani Danlandi ‘Contact’ in his six months constructed the Palace-Market road, what can we say Governor Ishaku has brought to Taraba, Kidnapping and killings, even his own people are regretting now because they are the worst hit by his ineffectiveness.”
Another respondent who spoke to Taraba Truth and Fact said “in the history of governance in Taraba state, Governor Ishaku would be rated very low, at least for now. We can’t compare him to any of his predecessors, it’s even an insult to think so,  they far performed better than what we are witnessing now in the state. Everything is grounded at the state level, all government offices are performing very low because there is no direction, even the moral of the state workers are low and we seems to be on auto pilot without a glorious direction.
Another respondent believed that Governor Ishaku can still retrace his steps to write his name in the positive, “but I doubt posterity would forgive him for taking Taraba state ten years backward, look at Gombe, Ebonyi even Yobe can it be compared with Taraba state in terms of infrastructure. Most of the legacy projects of previous administrations are rotting away because of poor maintenance under Governor Dairus.”
