Speakership: Abel Diah fights dirty

Outgoing Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, Hon. Abel Peter Diah has taken his quest to retain the speakership seat in the next Assembly to the mud.‎
Meanwhile Taraba state House of Assembly has dissolved members of the eight assembly, which was constituted in 2015, to usher in those elected as representatives of various state constituencies at the 2019 general elections
The speaker took the battle for who led the House in the next Assembly to Jolly Nnyame Stadium,  venue of second term inauguration of Governor Darius Ishaku.
The speaker during the inauguration ceremony told security agents to throw out a Women Leader of the PDP for championing zoning of the office to Taraba North, Taraba Truth and Facts gathered.
‎The woman and her group are part of the stakeholders in the party insisting that Taraba North must produce the next speaker.
An eyewitness told Taraba Truth and Facts that "Hon Abel Diah had ordered security agents to kick the women leader of the the venue because she was championing the Taraba North agenda at the venue."‎
Many stakeholders are waiting for the party leadership to take a decision on which zone the next speaker will come from.
They are calling on the leadership of the PDP in the state to make public it's decision.
"The PDP must act fast and let us know where it's stand, but the people wants fairness, it's wrong for Taraba Central to have both Deputy governor and Speaker, anybody who is not pleased with this position is not fair to Taraba North."
Some power-brokers in the state Peoples Democratic Party PDP are at logger head with Governor Darius Ishaku over who emerge speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly next month.
Taraba Truth and Fact had earlier reported that the governor has 'ordered' that Abel Peter Diah, the incumbent Speaker retain his position in the next Assembly while some stakeholders in the party are quietly making moves to ensure the PDP enforce zoning of the office to Taraba North.

The dissolution of the house followed a letter sent from Taraba state governor, Darius Ishaku, which was read at the last plenary of the eight assembly on Thursday by the out going speaker, Peter Diah and adopted by members.
Diah in his valedictory speech, commended his fellow colleagues for their tenacity, which he noted engendered a good working relationship with other arms of government.
He said “I can proudly say that our legislation in the past four years have benefitted the good people of Taraba.
“Moreover, I must commend the house for the good working relationship we had not only with the executive but also the judiciary.”
He also remembered former member representing Takum 1, Hosea Ibi, who was kidnapped and later killed by his abductors, as well as former member representing Ardo Kola constituency, Emmanuel Dame who also died.
The outgoing members during the valedictory sitting took turns to eulogise the deceased and relieve their four-year experience in the house which came to an end on May 30.
