More than 20 people has been killed in the wave of post election violence rocking Taraba State Capital, Jaling


Spontaneous jubilation and protests which trailed the victory  after incumbent Governor Darius Ishaku was declared winner of the governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ‎suddenly turned violent.

Meanwhile the Emir of Muri Alhaji Abass Jidda Tafida and State Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria CAN has condemned the crisis with strong words. ‎

The Emir of Muri urged everyone to live in peace with his neighbors, while calling on all stakeholders to come togather to put an end to the violence. 

CAN PRO Rev. Daddy Tanko called on Christians to give peace a chance in the state, saying both religion preaches peace.
"we should be peace makers, there's no need to continue this crisis, let make peace because without it there won't be development."‎

PDP supporters in the state capital trooped  to the streets of Jalingo for wild jubilation forcing the state government to impose a 24 hours curfew on the town.

The security situation in Taraba state is however snow balling into a religion crisis, with areas like Kona,  Unguwan Water Board, Unguwan Primary Board, Unguwan NTA, Unguwan Saminaka, Unguwan kasa, Rubi Bypass Jeka dafari, Unguwan Rubi Junction mostly affected.

The crisis has also crippled  business activities in the state capital with many businessmen from outside the state trapped.

Media report observed that despite heavy presence of Soldiers and other security agencies, killing and destruction of property continued unabated.
A residents of Jalingo, Mr. Hakisen Yauti, who spoke to a newsmen said the security operatives who were drafted to avert the ugly trend were not doing a enough.

“Immediately this unrest started, Governor Ishaku in his quest to bring the situation under control imposed dusk to dawn curfew in Jalingo, the Taraba state capital.

“Even when the directive said the curfew will run from 6am to 6am, they was no stop to the violence,” he lamented.

Also, a resident of Sabongari, Miss Sera Obidi said for over three days, they have been under siege by hoodlums.

She said since Tuesday, Taraba state has been on fire.‎




Auwal Aboutrika said the violence is neither political nor religious, "some thugs are wearing party and religion cover to steal from the people."‎

A political Commentator,  Alhaji Buba Yerro Mafindi is however appealing  to the Federal Government to come to the aid of good people of Tarabans by declaring a state of emergency in the state.

Buba Yerro  ininterview with Taraba Truth and Facts blames the crisis on the ir‎regularities that marred the governorship election.

He said some places like Sardauna, Wukari Kurmi, Ussa, Donga, Gashaka, Takum, and, Zing Local governments votes were falsify, making people in the state to lose hope in INEC and takes to violence. 



He further alleged that  some  INEC staff were compromised by the PDP  during the last election
